  • Builders are turning down pool installations or taking bookings for 2022 as demand for pools skyrockets during the pandemic.
  • The average cost to install a new pool has doubled in some cases from $25,000 in 2019 to $50,000 in 2021.
  • Installations of new pools have jumped 20% from 2019–2021.

The cost of putting in a backyard pool has doubled in some cases and timeframes have blown out by as much as 12 months as the pandemic fuelled crazy demand for swimming pools.

Many households reallocated their annual travel budget towards putting in a pool, but with borders reopening, a European holiday may be back on well before the pool can be installed.

The price of pools have also been impacted by government stimulus which has supercharged the construction industry and caused many supply chain issues.

In the space of just three years the price to install an average fibreglass, below-ground pool in Australia has surged from an entry level of $25,000 — $35,000 in 2019, to $30,000 — $50,000 in 2021.
